MANOA, Hawaii – The San Francisco men's tennis team was overpowered by the 18th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys, 7-0, Monday in a neutral court match at Hawaii Tennis Center.
After the loss, the Dons stand at 8-7 on the year. OSU moves to 16-2 on the season and the Cowboys are riding a five-match streak without conceding a point to its opponents. OSU marks the second top-20 team and the fifth ranked opponent the Dons have dealt with in the dual match season.
Germain Bahri, playing from the No. 4 singles position, extended his match to three sets against OSU's Lucas Gerch. After falling behind 6-0 in the match, Bahri, a senior from Gosselies, Belgium, knotted the match after pulling out a 7-6 second-set victory. Gerch went on to finish the third 6-2 to keep OSU's clean sheet intact as Bahri has yet to take a three-set victory on the season.
Bernardo Saraiva battled No. 72 Jakob Sude from the top singles spot before falling 6-4, 6-4, and freshman
Timothy Tan thretened OSU's Chris Haworth before succumbing 7-5, 6-4 to stand and USF's closest opportunities for points against the Cowboys.
USF continues its trip to the island state of Hawaii, facing off with the Rainbows Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT, kicking off a four-match road swing to close out the month of March.
