HONOLULU, Hawaii – The San Francisco men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback at the hands of Hawaii Wednesday at the Hawaii Tennis Center.

The Dons got the match started with a doubles victory from USF's top duo of Bernardo Saraiva and Nils Skajaa. The pair handled Hawaii's Jonathan Brooklyn and Danilo Casanova with a final tally of 8-3 to turn in the day's first result. However, USF would drop its other two doubles matches to fall behind to the Rainbow Warriors.

In singles play, Casanova defeated Christian Brockstedt and Pavel Lista took down Timothy Tan in a three-set match to extend Hawaii's lead before the Rainbow Warriors clinched at the No. 3 position as Thomas Takemoto fell 7-6(4), 6-4 to Chas Okamoto.

USF continued to battle for the final three points in play, and Saraiva took down Brooklyn at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 5-7, 7-6(6) to put the Dons on the board. Skajaa and Germain Bahri, the last two USF players to finish, both lost in three-set heartbreakers as the Dons were defeated 6-1.

With the setback, USF evens its season record to 8-8 while Hawaii moves to 2-8 and snaps an eight-match slide.

The Dons now travel to Southern California, seeking their first West Coast Conference win on the season. Up first on the docket is a meeting with No. 46 Pepperdine Friday in Malibu, Calif.
