Takemoto Duals with Hometown Foe to Earn USF's Lone Point at No. 46 Pepperdine
Thomas Takemoto, a sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil took the point with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over hometown friend Pedro Leme.

MALIBU, Calif. – Continuing its five-match swing away from the Hilltop, the San Francisco men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 46 Pepperdine Friday at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.

 USF earned its point from Thomas Takemoto at the No. 4 singles position. The sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil, defeated Pedro Leme, 7-5, 6-3. Leme is also a sophomore hailing from Sao Paulo, and the two are familiar friends and adversaries.

Every singles match on the day went just two sets and Pepperdine improved its record to 10-10, as the Waves stand at 2-0 in the West Coast Conference. USF moved to 8-9 (0-3 WCC) and are in the midst of a four match slide.

Pepperdine swept through the doubles matches and took each of its singles points in straight-set affairs. The Waves stand as the sixth ranked opponent that the  Dons have faced thus far in the season.

USF stays in Southern California for a Saturday matchup with Loyola Marymount. The Dons square off with the Lions in Los Angeles at 11 a.m. Both teams are seeking their first WCC win of the year.
