SAN FRANCISCO –– The USF women's tennis team returns to the courts this weekend, participating in the ITA Northwest Regional Championships at Stanford beginning on Friday.Competing for the Dons will be Andrea Ka, Thyra Taune, Shanna Dos Santos, Genevieve McCloskey, Alisha Sharma and Jiayu Mu. Sharma and Mu will both be making their debuts in the Green and Gold. All players will compete in the same singles bracket, with Taune/Ka, Dos Santos/McCloskey and Sharma/Mu making up the doubles teams.Â

In Friday's singles play, Sharma will take on Jennifer Ong of Sacramento State at 10:00 a.m. Thaune will play against Kelsey Frey of Portland State at 11:30 a.m. Ka was awarded a bye and will play at 5:00 p.m. against the winner between Davis' Alexandra Huie and Eastern Washington's Katrina Domingo. Mu will compete against Emily Gibbens of Cal Poly at 2:30. Lastly, McCloskey will square off against Fresno State's Galina Bykova at 12:30.Â
In doubles, Dos Santos and McCloksey will play Santa Clara's Chelby Cooke and Daniella Silva at 8:30 a.m. while Mu and Sharma, playing together for the first time, will take on Emma Critser and Vanessa Nommensen at the same time. Ka and Taune were awarded a bye and will play on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. against either Portland's Saroop Dhatt and Emily Gould or St Mary's Parminder Kaur and Kareena Manji.
