Tempe, Arizona-Â Â The USF women's tennis team came short in play this afternoon against the ITA ranked No. 32 Arizona State.
"We didnt play our best tennis in the altitude and the wind, but we will take what we can and learn from the match today to be ready for the next upcoming competition," said head coach Hilary Sommers.
Although the Dons lost their matches in doubles play, they made Arizona State work for its win.
Andrea Ka and
Marina Nikolic worked hard to try and take the match from ASU, but Desire Krawczyk and Stephanie Vlad pulled through to claim the match 6-4.
Genevieve McCloskey and
Thyra Taune also came close to a win against Joanna Smith and Ebony Panoho 6-4.
The San Devils may have taken the singles matches against USF, but Ka and McCloskey worked hard to make the Sun Devils earn their wins. Ka fell to Krawczyk 6-4, 7-5 and McCloskey followed suit with the same score against Panoho.
Next up for the Dons will be BYU on March 6 at the Olympic Club at 3 p.m.
