USF Downs Navy, 5-2

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – USF's men's tennis picked up a 5-2 win against the Navy this Sunday at The Beach and Tennis Club.
The Dons gained the lead in doubles play with wins from first and second doubles. USF's 45th ranked team in the country, Bernardo Saraiva and Nils Skajaa, claimed a quick 6-2 win against the Mids' Blake Daniel and Calvin Mark at the No. 1 flight. Thomas Takemoto and Vasco Valverde held on to claim a 7-5 victory at second doubles against Thomas Pecor and Aries Wong.
Saraiava defeated Mark with a dominating two set win, 6-2, 6-3, to give the Dons a leading score of 2-0. Although the Navy picked up a win at no. 6 singles, Valverde extended San Francisco's advantage out to 3-1 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Pecor.
Takemoto's 6-2, 6-4 victory over Daniel at No. 4 singles secured the overall win for the Dons. Alex Santiago also served up a win to give the Dons their fifth team point against Walker Sims in two sets, 6-3, 6-4.
Next up for USF will be BYU in Provo, Utah on March 18.
