Portland, Ore.- The Dons came short in a competitive match against University of Portland's women's tennis team, 4-3. The match was a strenuous six hours at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center.

"It was a disappointing day," said head coach
Hilary Somers. "We won the doubles point which I knew would be important today. We carried some momentum directly into singles but left the door open all day long and couldn't close things out. Portland stepped up and went after it. "

The Dons took their first team point from the Pilots in doubles play.
Andrea Ka and
Marina Nikolic served up a 7-5 win against Lucia Butkovska and Jelena Lazerevic.
Milica Hadzi-Tanovic and
Sofia Holmberg worked hard at third doubles to claim a 7-6(5) match that was filled with back-and-forth play.

The highlight match for the Green and Gold was
Andrea Ka as she defeated the undefeated nationally ranked No. 121 Butkovska in a three set match of 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.

With five out of the six matches ending in three sets, the Pilots worked to earn their 4-3 win against the Dons.

Hadzi-Tanovic worked hard after being down 5-2 in her second set against Lazerevic to win, 6-4, 7-6. She gave the Dons their third point against Portland, but after the Pilots outlasted to claim four points in singles play.

Next up for USF's women's tennis will be play against UC Santa Barbara at Pebble Beach, Calif. on March 29 at 12 p.m.
