SAN FRANCISCO- The Dons took care of business this afternoon as they earned a 4-1 West Coast Conference win against Saint Mary's at the Cal Club.

USF adds to their winning record, 12-7, and is now 5-3 in conference play. With just three matches left in their regular season, the Dons looks to maintain a strong winning record for the WCC tournament.

"I am happy with the way the guys fought and dug deep in doubles and singles," said head coach
Pablo Pires de Almeida. "The Gaels did a good job fighting throughout their matches in doubles and singles. This was a close and solid win for us to gain confidence into next week!"

The Dons picked up their first team point in doubles play where
Vasco Valverde and
Thomas Takemoto defeated Jacob Lagman and Matthew Campana 6-4, at No. 3 doubles. After a close back and fourth match against Samuel Bloore and Thomas Alexander Hunt, at 4-4 the duo of
Bernardo Saraiva and
Nils Skajaa were able to win a deuce point to take the lead and serve out a 6-4 win for USF.

All four of USF 's completed singles matches were victorious in two sets. Giving the Dons momentum, Valverde was able to dominate his opponent and win the first match for USF against Matthew Campana 6-2, 6-3.

Skajja and Tallman won first set tiebreakers at the same time. Skajaa took his close match with Samuel Bloore 7-6 (4), 6-4 giving the Dons a three-point advantage against the Gaels.

Tallman followed suit picking up a 7-6, (6), 6-3 win against Hunt at No. 3 singles, confirming the dominating 4-1 win against the Gaels.

The Dons head to Stanford tomorrow to compete against the Cardinals at 4:00 pm
