Provo, Utah –– In a WCC match at the Indoor Tennis Courts on Tuesday, the USF Dons fell to BYU 5-2. After the Cougars earned the doubles point, the Dons were only able to win two singles matches and BYU came away with the win.

During the doubles matches, BYU's Erica Chichoni and Natella Nabieva made quick work of Shanna Dos Santos and Sofia Holmberg, beating the Dons duo 6-1 at No. 3. The Cougars then took the doubles point in the No. 2 match, with Nicolette Poulsen and Savannah Ware defeating Hanna Börjeson and Genevieve McCloskey 6-2.

In the singles matches, the Dons were unable to swing the momentum back in their favor as BYU won three straight matches at No. 4, No. 2 and No. 3 to clinch the overall match. With her team down 4-0, senior Andrea Ka provided the Green and Gold with their first victory of the day, beating Mayci Jones in the No. 1 slot with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory. 

At No. 5 singles, Nabieva overpowered Holmberg, winning 6-2, 6-2 to push the Cougars up 5-1. Looking for her first singles win of 2016, Börjeson picked up a nice win over Chichoni, winning 7-6, 2-6, 10-3 in the No. 6 match.  

The Dons will return to action on March 12 to face Fresno State in Sacramento at 10 a.m.
