Burkard Finishes 2nd in 1500M

Sacramento, Calif. –– The Dons performed very well in the 1500M at the Hornet Invitational on Saturday, with Elena Burkard finishing in 2nd with a time of 4:24.92. Behind her were Kate Jamboretz (4:25.86) in 4th and Tatjana Schulte (4:31.33) in 9th, with Schulte entering the top 10 record book.
In addition to Burkard, Jamboretz and Schulte, Daryl Phill (4:33.14) and Kelsey Nielsen (4:35.00) also competed in the 1,500 with the pair setting new personal records.
"I am pleased with our entire 1500M group," said head track and field coach Helen Lehman-Winters. "They are continuing to improve in every way and were very competitive in today's field."
Another strong mark that USF turned in on Saturday was a time of 2:14.05 in the 800M by Emma Stahr to take 13th out of 62 runners. In the javelin, JoJo Ananouko took 15th with a distance of 35.17M, just 1.42M behind her personal best.
The Dons will next compete in the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto from April 1-2.
