Taylor Proctor Signs Professional Contract

SAN FRANCISCO – Recent San Francisco graduate for the San Francisco women's basketball team, Taylor Proctor, has inked her contract to play professionally for KFUM Ostersund in Sweden.

"Ever since I was little I have always wanted to become a professional basketball player," Proctor said. "Now that it has come true I can't believe it's happening. I could not be more excited about this opportunity to play in Sweden. I just want to say thank you to Ostersund Basket for making my dream come true. I can't wait to contribute to the team next season!"

The squad finished as the BasketEttan Stage One champions after going 9-0 in the north, and completed Stage Two play with a record of 11-3. After its successful season in BasketEttan, the team will compete in the Damligan this upcoming season. With a limit of two U.S. players per team, Proctor joins last year's leader Taylor Wurtz on the KFUM Ostersund Basket roster.

"I'm very excited for Taylor!" exclaimed USF head coach Jennifer Azzi. "She is going to be an outstanding professional athlete. Her work ethic, drive, and passion for the game give her the tools to thrive overseas. Sweden is a fantastic country and this opportunity gives Taylor a chance to travel the world.

"As our program continues to grow, I look forward to other athletes to follow in her footsteps. We encourage and support our student athletes to prepare for life after college, whether on the court, through continued education, or in the work force. I'm so proud of Taylor."

Proctor, a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., and four-year starter on the Hilltop, finished with one of the most prolific careers in USF basketball history.  She earned all WCC first team honors each of the last two seasons and added postseason honors as the WCC All-Tournament MVP selection during the team's incredible WCC Championship run and NCAA tournament appearance in March.

Proctor closed her collegiate career in the top 10 of several career categories including points (1,785 – 3rd) and rebounds (923 – 2nd) and will go down as one in a long line of basketball legends for the Dons. She capped her time wearing the Green and Gold by being named the Anne Dolan Female Athlete of the Year.

"I couldn't have had a better experience here at USF," added Proctor. "My coaches and teammates always pushed me and challenged me everyday to be the hardest worker on the court, and I think that alone is going to help me with my next step in playing professionally. I couldn't thank them enough!"

"Taylor will contribute so much to our team," noted KFUM head coach Krister Blomgren to Swedish media outlet OP.se. "She has height and takes many rebounds, makes many points. But above all, she has a range in her game that is important to us as newcomers, who do not have the deepest team in the league."
