Dons Fall at Omaha in Season Opener

OMAHA, Neb. – A pair of early goals by each team kept things tied for most of the contest, but Nebraska-Omaha pulled ahead in the second half as the USF men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss on Friday evening.

Nebraska-Omaha (1-0) got on the board with Mark Moulton's early strike in the 7th minute as he found a gap in the USF defense on the first shot attempt of the night.

The Dons didn't waste much time in answering as Bryce Kaminski netted the equalizer in the 11th minute off a rebound in the box.

USF keeper Ryan Buckingham stayed active in the first half, registering four saves while helping keep the game tied at 1-1. However, Nebraska-Omaha moved ahead right after the intermission when Elvir Ibisevic took advantage of a breakaway to score in the 48th minute.

Nebraska-Omaha then went out to its final 3-1 lead in the 61st minute as Cole Nelson found the back of the net.

USF (0-1) was outshot 11-5 on the night with Kaminski registering two shots on goal.

UP NEXT: The Dons stay in Omaha through the weekend and return to action at 5 p.m. PDT at No. 7 Creighton on Monday.
