SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco men's soccer team heads to San Diego for its last road trip of the season to play the University of San Diego on Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.
USF (6-8-0, 3-1-0 WCC) is coming off a weekend trip to the Pacific Northwest that saw them finish with a record of 2-0 over two matches against Gonzaga and Portland. In their first match against Gonzaga, the Dons got two late goals from Sean Bowman and Tawwab Emiola to beat the Zags 3-1.
Against Portland, the Dons jumped out to an early lead with a goal from Emiola, but the Pilots were able to equalize with just five minutes to play in the first half. Just two minutes later, USF responded when senior Leon Schwarzer received a cross from Manny Padilla, took a touch and back heeled the ball into the back of the net. Santiago Digiuseppe added an insurance goal 14 minutes into the second half to secure the 3-1 win for the Dons.
San Diego (8-4-3, 2-1-2 WCC) is coming off a weekend road trip, as well. On Friday, the Toreros lost 3-1 to Pacific and tied 2-2 with Saint Mary's. Against Saint Mary's, the Toreros showed resilience after going down two goals in the first half to pull it back to 2-2 with two second half goals. Returning home to play at the friendly confines of Torero Stadium will be a welcome site as they have been a force at home, going 5-1-1 over the course of the season.
