FOLSOM, Calif. – The USF beach volleyball came away empty handed after playing a pair of matches at the Sacramento State Invitational on Saturday at Livermore Community Park.
In their first match of the day against Sac State, the Dons (0-3) saw their No. 3 tandem of
Dane Miller and
Marjolijn Oskam battle to a three-set finish, but ultimately fell by a 21-19, 19-21, 15-6 tally. Likewise,
Shannon Levinson and
Kate Ashman took it the distance but were edged 21-14, 15-21, 15-7 at No. 4.
At No. 2,
Emily Reed and
Carly Lowry just barely came up short as they were narrowly defeated by the Hornets' Lexie Skalbeck and Shannon Boyle.
In the Dons' follow up matchup against Boise State, Oskam and Miller took their match down to the wire, losing a 21-19 second set as they suffered a defeat to the Broncos' Sarah Davis and Kennedy Kurtz.
USF suffered 5-0 losses in each dual match on the day.
The Dons return to action for their only home matches of the spring on Sunday when they host Utah at 8:30 a.m. and Pacific at 1:30 p.m. at Ocean Beach (Great Highway and Balboa Ave.).
