MORAGA, Calif. – The San Francisco beach volleyball team traveled across the Bay Bridge to take on the Saint Mary's Gaels, falling 5-0 on a sunny Thursday afternoon at Moraga Commons Park.

USF's duo of Dane Miller and Carly Lowry proved to have the tightest match of the day, taking on Mary Hernandez and Alexis Salmons at No. 3 in the lineup. The Gaels' tandem took the first set 21-16, and narrowly edged out Miller and Lowry 22-20 in the second.

Also seeing competitive results at No. 4, Kate Ashman and Shannon Levinson teamed up to take on Lindsey Calvin and Alexsa Parker before eventually falling 21-14, 21-18.

The Dons are still seeking their first team win of the season on the sand while Saint Mary's moves to 8-3 on the year. The Gaels, selected to finish second in the WCC preseason coaches poll, is currently receiving votes in both the AVCA and DIG Magazine polls.

Next up, the Dons welcome some of the nation's top competitors to Santa Cruz, Calif. Hosting the San Francisco Invitational on the sands by the Beach Boardwalk, USF takes on No. 1 Southern California at 9 a.m. on April 1. Then, the Trojans battle Saint Mary's in the midday match, before the Dons tangle with the Gaels at 1 p.m. to round out the day's competition.
