MORAGA, Calif. - The Dons opened the second week of West Coast Conference play with a 0-3 loss against Saint Mary's (5-8, 1-2) on Tuesday evening in Moraga, Calif. USF's record is now 3-13, 0-3. The young squad came off week one with two tough matches against top-20 opponents in No. 17 San Diego and No. 9 BYU. The quick trip across the Bay tonight kicked off a three-match week. Unfortunately the Dons couldn't pick up their first WCC or road win while matching up against the Gaels.Â
STATS OF THE GAME
- Freshman Erica Ronda led with 10 kills, marking her 12th game registering double-digit slams. This is also her third consecutive game with 10 or more kills. Her season long streak for tallying double-digit slams is five games, which came at the start of the season.Â
- Ronda leads the Dons with 162 kills. She also is tops in serve aces with 15.
- Starting setter Erin Anthony recorded 18 assists and had a match-high of nine digs.Â
- Marjolijn Oskam earned three kills, three solo blocks and one block assist.
- The Dons out blocked the Gaels 4-3.Â
- USF registered its lowest number of kills (21) and assists (19) on the season.Â
WHAT'S NEXTÂ
The Dons will look to bounce back and capture their first WCC win as they return home for two matches. Slated first is Portland on Thurs. evening at 7 p.m. Gonzaga will come to the Hilltop for a mid-day match on Saturday. First serve is set for noon. Tickets for the matches can be found
