SAN FRANCISCO — The University of San Francisco men's soccer team began West Coast Conference play with a victory over San Diego, 2-1, last weekend and is ready to take on No. 6 Saint Mary's on the road on Saturday. The match will take place at 3 p.m. at the Saint Mary's Stadium for the Dons 12th match of the season. 

San Francisco (3-7-1, 1-0-0 WCC) took care of business against San Diego after freshman Ashish Chattha notched the first collegiate goal to lead the Dons' 1-0 for the entire first half. San Francisco began the second period with another goal that fell at the 57th minute after a header from Noah Leong to extend the Dons lead, 2-0. Leong recorded his second goal of the season. San Diego was able to sneak in a goal for the Toreros after a penalty kick was scored by Miguel Berry at the 59th minute. The Dons held the Toreros to four shot attempts the rest of the period to seal its 2-1 victory.

San Francisco stands fourth in WCC play with its 1-0-0 record. Sean Bowman averages 3.10 shots per game (4th in WCC play). Ruben Stuiver averages 4.22 saves per game - 2nd in conference. Santiago Digiuseppe leads the Dons with three goals as Noah Leong and Bowman are second on the team with two. USF records a 44.8 shots on goal attempt percentage as opponents shoot 41.4 percent. San Francisco will compete against its fifth nationally ranked opponent this season. 

ABOUT SAINT MARY'S
The No. 6 Gaels (12-0-0, 1-0-0) blanked Pacific 4-0 for their first conference game of the season. SMC's undefeated record stands first in conference. The Gaels lead the conference with 92 points, 33 goals per game, 26 assists and 10 shutouts. Jake Rudel leads the Gaels with 10 goals - 2nd in WCC play and 22 points - 1st in conference. Anders Engebretsen records six goals - 3rd in WCC play and shoots an average of 4.17 shots per game. Remi Prieur leads the team and the conference with an 89.5 saves percentage.
