
Dons Open Spring Schedule at Battle of the Rock

SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco women's golf team begins its spring slate at the Battle of the Rock this week, hosted by UC Riverside at the Oak Quarry Golf Club. The par 72, 6046-yard course will host the 14-team field.
First year head coach Sara Doell will send a veteran lineup to Riverside. The Dons quintet will feature three seniors in Vanessa Ha, Kimberley Liu, and Emily Laskin. Joining the trio will be sophomore Samantha Gong and freshman Joan Soewondo.
Ha has been the Dons rock this fall. In all four fall tournaments she was USF's top finisher, recording two top-10 finishes. She opened the fall season with a 2-under 214 at the Ram Classic.
Kimberly Liu made her 2017-18 debut at the UC Irvine Invitational, the last fall competition. Liu finished that event T-34th with a t 12-over 228. Emily Laskin appeared in all four fall tournaments, she opened the fall with a 3-under 69 at the Ram Classic.
Sophomore Samantha Gong appeared in all four competitions this fall as well, she had one top-20 finish, taking 16th at the Edean Ihlandfeldt Invite in Seattle. Joan Soewondo competed in three tournaments in the fall, her best finish was a tie at 17th at the Ram Classic.
The Dons will be facing host UC Riverside, as well as UC Davis, Cal State Fullerton, Stetson, Nevada, Northern Arizona, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Bakersfield, Hawaii, Grand Canyon, Montana, and Montana State.
