MORAGA, Calif. - The University of San Francisco beach volleyball team was able to win one flight, but lost the dual to Saint Mary's, 4-1, Saturday afternoon at the Moraga Commons.
The lone win was picked up by 4s pair of
Sabrina Blackwell and
Erica Ronda, who went to three sets to finish off SMC. USF's 1s,
Julia Topor and
Anna Dalla Vecchia, and 5s,
Pi'ikea Clemens and
Shannon Levinson, were able to force deciding sets in their respective flights, but could not take down the Gaels.
USF is now 2-6 overall, 0-1 in regular-season play and 0-2 with the Gaels this year.
THOUGHTS FROM FRANCISCO
"We played Saint Mary's tough. It was a huge improvement from our first match with the Gaels two weeks ago where we lost five matches and only went to three sets in one match. It was a great showing on their home court and dealing with some weather. We look forward to playing San Jose State and Pacific next weekend."
