BSB | Potent Offense Leads Dons to 9-1 Win Over Pacific

THE RUNDOWN
SAN FRANCISCO- The University of San Francisco's baseball team clinched their second WCC conference win over the University of the Pacific Tigers, by a score of 9-1.

USF wasted no time, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning to jump on the Tigers early. Jonathan Allen lead off the inning with a single, and then was able to put himself in scoring position by advancing to second on a passed ball. After Tyler Villaroman's sacrifice bunt moved Allen to third Michael Perri, who was 4-for-5 on the day, singled to open up the scoring. Perri then stole his first of two stolen bases on the day, advancing to third on an error by the catcher to put himself in scoring position. Puskarich stepped up next and drove Perri in with a single down the right field line.

Riley Helland joined the first inning hit parade, launching his first career home run to make the score to 4-0. The Dons' hot bats carried over into the second inning, scoring two runs on a pair of singles by Villaroman and Perri. The score at the end of two was 6-0, USF.

The score would remain 6-0 until the sixth inning when the Tigers rallied to get runners on, but would only score one. In the bottom of the sixth inning USF mounted a rally of their own. RJ Cordeiro walked to lead off the inning, then Aaron Ping hit an opposite field shot to extend the USF lead to 8-1.

Riley Ornido took the mound for USF this afternoon and was dominant, limiting the Tigers to just four hits and one run in seven innings. Ornido struck out five and walked one.

USF tallied one more run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a leadoff solo homerun from Perri. Alex Pham and Grant Goodman finished up the last two innings for USF. Pham retired 3 of the four batters he faced. While Goodman gave up no hits, and struck out one.

The Dons are now 11-7 overall and 2-0 in conference.
