SAN FRANCISCO - The West Coast Conference today announced the 2018 WCC Beach Volleyball All-Academic Team and All-Academic Honorable mention selections, including Dons sophomore
Carly Lowry.
Lowry was nominated to the All-Academic honorable mention roster. In her first eligible year for being considered for such an award, Lowry earned a position on the list with a 3.71 cumulative GPA. A native of Tuscon, Ariz., she plans to major in communications.
In two years on the Hilltop, Lowry has participated in two indoor seasons and two beach seasons. In this years beach season, she was 5-10 on the year, 12-20 in sets, making her a part of the most successful pairs on the Dons squad. She was 4-5 when in the 2s pair.
When asked, head coach Frank Lavrisha said, "Carly's competitiveness on the beach is being recognized along with her accountability in the classroom. Her work over these two seasons has paid off."
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to her team.
