SERIES HISTORY

The Dons have faced Fresno State (4-0) the most out of their three opponents this weekend, going 5-19 all-time against the Bulldogs. USF stretched a five-match winning streak against Fresno State into last season, when the teams met twice and split the season series. USF is 0-2 all-time against American (2-1), last playing the Eagles in 1999.

San Francisco and Cal Baptist (4-0) have met just once in history – a 2-0 victory in a best-of-three match in 1982. The Lancers are in their first year of transition to NCAA Division I from Division II.

HOT START

The Dons won two of their three Opening Weekend matches at the Army Invitational last week in West Point, N.Y. That matches their best start in two years after they also won two of their first three to start the 2016 campaign.

DE-FENSE, DE-FENSE, DE-FENSE

San Francisco stifled its opponents last weekend, holding Army, UTSA and Quinnipiac to a combined .163 hitting percentage. The Dons totaled 29 blocks with three players collecting 10 or more. Kate Ashman led the way with 13 total blocks.

COMING UP

The Dons will debut at home with two matches in War Memorial at the Sobrato Center on Sept. 7-8. San Francisco hosts Hofstra at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, then takes on Southern Utah at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. USF will also host a neutral site match between the Pride and Thunderbirds at 11 a.m. on Sept. 8.
