STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore
Alex Chin recorded his strongest round of the tournament to finish in the top-30. Meanwhile, the University of San Francisco men's golf team finished 17
h at The Goodwin.
The Dons finished final round with a 16-over 296 at the par-70 Stanford Golf Course. For the tournament, the Dons carded a 36-over 868 (288-292-288). USF carded 44 birdies for the tournament which was fourth most in the tournament. Chin carded seven birdies on Saturday to give him 14 for the tournament which was tied for second most after 54 competitive holes.
"While we didn't have the finish we wanted, there were plenty of positives to build on for next week," said head coach
Jack Kennedy. "The postseason is still right around the corner and we want to be playing our best in April and May."
Chin's final round of 4-under started with a bogey on 10, from there he quickly locked in and finished the round on fire carding three-straight birdies. For the tournament, Chin was tied for 29
th with a 5-over 215 (74-75-66).
Tim Widing came in second for the Dons. After an 8-over 78 on the final 18 holes he finished tied for 45
th with an 8-over 218 (71-69-78).
Christoffer Palsson was tied for 70
th with a 12-over 222 (75-72-75).
Soren Lind was tied for 95
th with a 16-over 226 (73-76-77).
No. 31 Stanford took home team title with an 8-under 832 (279-279-274), they were the only team under round. The Cardinal's Brandon Wu and David Snyder were co-medalists finishing with a 4-under 206.
The Dons will return to action on Friday, April 12 at the El Macero Classic hosed by UC Davis at the El Macero Country Club. It will be the Dons' final tune-up before the WCC Championships at the end of April.
