SAN FRANCISCO — The University of San Francisco's men's soccer starts the new season on the road when the Dons travel to Seattle, Washington on Friday at 7 p.m. and then on Monday at 1 p.m. Leonard Griffin is making his collegiate head coaching debut this weekend as his team features 17 returners and 12 newcomers.

ABOUT SAN FRANCISCO 
  • The Dons are coming off a 6-10-1 overall record from the 2018 season 
  • They are returning 17 players, highlighting two 2018 all-conference honorees - Bar Twito and Cameron Martin
  • Junior goalkeeper Ruben Stuiver recorded a team-best 76 saves and started in all 17 matchups for the Dons last season
  • San Francisco closed out the season with three-straight wins in their final four matches, including a 2-1 upset over No. 7 Portland
  • USF highlighted the 2018 season with a 1-0 upset win against No. 8 UCLA on Sept. 2
ABOUT THE REDHAWKS
  • Seattle U posted a 13-6-1 and 7-4 WAC record in 2018 and made its third appearance to the NCAA tournament
  • Julian Avila-Good and Thomas Mickoski are All-WAC Preseason choices
  • Last season Noe Meza scored a team-high seven goals while Declan McGlynn earned 2018 WAC Freshman of the Year, All-WAC Second Team and WAC All-Newcomer Team
ABOUT THE HUSKIES
  • Washington posted a 12-7-1 including a 6-4-0 Pac-12 record in 2018. They reached the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight season and the sixth time in the last seven years
  • San Francisco meets Washington for the 14th time, dating back to 1998
  • The Dons lead the all-time series with the Huskies, 8-5-0
  • UW has won seven-straight home openers and are 26-2-2 in their last 30 home openers
  • Last season, the Huskies scored 31 goals through 20 matches 
UP NEXT
The Dons travel to CSUN to play the Matadors on Sept. 8 before making its home debut against San Jose State and UNLV on Sept. 12 and 15.
