MGOLF | Four Dons Earn All-Academic Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco men's golf team had four members earn West Coast Conference All-Academic honors, as announced by the conference office on Friday. Senior Tim Widing and junior Soren Lind earned were named to the All-Academic Team, while Alex Chin and Matthew Anderson earned Honorable Mention honors.
 
This is the third time Widing has been named to the WCC All-Academic Team. He is one of three players on the 12-person all-academic team to earn the award three times.  The International Business major finished his senior year with a 3.70 cumulative GPA. Widing tallied three top-10 finishes on the year, including a tournament championship at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic, where he recorded 17 birdies in the 54-hole tournament.  In 18 rounds played this year, he finished with 11 at par or better and led the Dons with a 72.3 stroke average.
 
This is the second time Lind has earned all-academic honors.  The junior Economics major boasts a 3.69 GPA.  In four tournaments this season, Lind averaged a 74.5 stroke average.  He recorded a top-10 finish at the Orange Country Classic, helping the Dons capture their first team title since April 2018.
 
Alex Chin earns his second all-academic accolade, taking home Honorable Mention honors this year.  The Finance major sports a 3.85 GPA.  In five tournaments this year he posted a 76.4 stroke average.  He recorded a top-10 finish at the Orange County Classic.  For the year, he carded 34 birdies and posted seven rounds at par or better.
 
Anderson earns Honorable Mention honors his first time eligible for the award.  Anderson, an undeclared business major, boasts a 3.44 GPA.  Anderson had a breakout campaign in 2019-20, with three top-10 finishes. He led the Dons in three tournaments, and took second at the Oregon State Invitational.  His 72.5 stroke average was second only to Widing's 72.3.  Anderson finished the year with 49 birdies and recorded a hole-in-one on the third round of the Orange County Classic.
 
To be considered for the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, a significant contributor to his or her team and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20. To read the full release by the West Coast Conference click here.
