Men's Soccer Makes Quick Trip to Omaha

OMAHA, Neb.- Back on the road for their first midweek matchup of October, the University of San Francisco men's soccer team (1-7-1, 0-1-1) is set to square off against the University of Nebraska Omaha (4-6-1, 2-1-0) on Tuesday night at Caniglia Field in Omaha.

- Last time out, the Dons snapped their skid with a 2-2 double overtime draw against Saint Mary's on Saturday, Oct. 9. Returning home to Negoesco Stadium for the first time since Aug. 26, Shayan Charalaghi got USF on the board in just the second minute of play while Tobias Wangerud tallied his first collegiate goal in the 81st minute to even the score at two all.
- Heading into Tuesday's match, reigning WCC Freshman of the Year Nonso Adimabua is putting together another dominant campaign in his sophomore season as the forward currently ranks in the top ten in the conference in goals (4, tied for second), points (8, tied for fifth), shots (24, tied for fifth), shots on goal (10, tied for eighth) and game-winning goals (1, tied for eighth).
- Looking ahead, USF will play three consecutive WCC matches- vs. Gonzaga on Oct. 23, at Pacific on Oct. 27 and at San Diego on Oct. 31- followed by their final non-conference contest of the year against Stanford on Nov. 4.
- In their last action on the pitch, the Mavericks fell to Oral Roberts, 3-2, at home on Saturday, Oct. 16. Notably, Hugo Kametani and Mitch Hammer scored for Omaha in the loss.
- Individually, Kametani and Malik Elmi are currently tied for the team lead with two goals each while Hammer, Naz Astwood, Dominic Danis, Connor Jokerst and Ed Port have all found the back of the net once this fall. Overall, Kametani has had the most opportunities for the Mavericks as he also leads the team in shots (26) and shots on goal (14).
- Wrapping up their homestand, Omaha will aim to jump above .500 at home against the Dons as they currently sport at 2-2 record at Caniglia Field this season.
- Tuesday's matchup will mark just the second meeting all-time between USF and Omaha, with the Mavericks having previously defeated the Dons, 3-1, in Omaha on Aug. 26, 2016.
