- In the moments to follow, USD continued to press offensively as they tallied three more shots before converting for their first goal of the match at 40:43, when Owen Wiebe and Nicklas Clausen assisted Ross Johnstone for the equalizer. Following one final shot from Clausen, the two teams remained knotted at one heading into the locker room at halftime.
- Coming out of the break, Dylan Thompson registered the first shot of the second half in the 51st minute before scoring on another assist from Clausen to make the score 2-1 in favor of USD.
- Aiming to even the contest, the Dons responded offensively with shots from Tamba Di Mattia, Shayan Charalaghi, Rodrigo Bueno and Nik Kizerian in the moments to follow, but were unable to find the game-tying goal. With ten seconds remaining in regulation, Nathan Buckalew attempted one final shot for USF, but it would be the Torero defense that would reign supreme in the second half as San Diego hung on to defend their home field and secure their first conference victory of the season, 2-1.
