PORTLAND, Ore. -- Continuing their season trend, the USF Dons' women's soccer team (5-5-2, 1-2) played another close, defensive struggle Saturday night against the Portland Pilots (5-6, 1-2) falling short in the end 1-0. It was a closely fought match throughout at each team was on their game defensively.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- The first 45 minutes went on without incident as each team did a good job of keeping the other away from the net.
- USF worked hard to keep it close throughout despite being outshot by Portland 14-5.
- The Pilots got on the board at the 75 minute mark courtesy of Nadya Sawan.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Goalkeeper Molly Eby continued her strong season in net as she recorded four saves on the night.
- USF's stellar defense continued Saturday night as they have now allowed the third fewest goals in the WCC.
- Sydney Cooper led the Dons with two shot attempts in the contest.
CATCHING UP WITH COACH NIJJAR:
"We are disappointed as we had some good moments with the ball. Portland deserved to win. They are well-coached and very well disciplined in every aspect of their play. We're looking to bounce back with a good performance against Santa Clara.
