USF AT A GLANCE
LAST TIME OUT
The Dons battled but the interior play of Gonzaga proved to be too much as USF saw its six-game winning streak snapped by No. 17 Gonzaga 79-66 on Thursday night at the McCarthy Athletic Center. The Bulldogs did a tremendous job of keeping
Ioanna Krimili in check - holding her to just one field goal and zero threes.
Lucie Hoskova led the Dons with a game-high 19 points.
A WIN WOULD MEAN...
• The Dons would improve to 12-9 on the season
• Improve the Dons 7-6 on the road.
• Improve to 37-36 all-time against the Pilots
• Win at the Chiles Center for the first time since Feb. 8, 2018 (76-63)
• Give the Dons their 8th WCC win - most since 2017-18 (10).
CLIMBING THE NET
The Dons have risen drastically in the all-important NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET rankings). Prior to the Dons current six-game winning streak the Dons were ranked 200th in the NET rankings, second to last in the WCC. Following the loss to Gonzaga the Dons fell two spots to 119. The Dons are fourth in the WCC behind Gonzaga (20th), BYU (54th), and San Diego (115).
QUIET NIGHT FOR KRIMILI
In the loss to Gonzaga,
Ioanna Krimili was held to a season-low five points. She was just 1-for-7 from the field and 0-for-2 from 3-point range. The Bulldogs are the only team who have kept her to single digits - she finished with just six points in the first matchup.
DONS FROM DISTANCE
The Dons rank 21st in the nation (tops in the WCC) in 3-point field goal attempts with 425, they are 20th in 3-point field goals made with 143, 59th in 3-point field goals per contest at 7.3 and 73rd in 3-point field goal percentage at 33.6.
Ioanna Krimili entered this week ranked second in the nation in attempts (153), first in makes (68), fifth in 3-point field goals per game (3.58) and 21st in 3-point field goal percentage (44.4).
SIX GAME STREAK COMES TO AN END
The Dons season-best six game winning streak finally came to an end on Thursday night. It was the longest winning streak for the Dons since the Dons won seven in a row Nov. 25, 2015 to Dec. 19, 2015. The six-game winning streak in WCC play is the longest since USF won six in a row in 1995-96. That team finished the year 24-8 and advanced to the Sweet-16.
IOANNA CHASES HISTORY
With her 68 made 3-point field goals, freshman guard
Ioanna Krimili is tied for third-most in a single season with former Don Rachel Howard. Only Shay Rollins is ahead of Krimili. Rollins 2007-08 season is second all-time with 75 and her 2008-09 is 1st with 77. Both of those years came in 29 games. Krimili is at 68 with 20 games played.
