DAVIS, Calif. — The University of San Francisco men's tennis team stayed unbeaten Saturday, sweeping all six singles matches to defeat host UC Davis,, 6-1, at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.
 
The Dons dropped the doubles point to start, as the Aggies (0-4) swept all three doubles matchups. The duos of Phuc Huynh and Mitch Johnson (No. 2 doubles), and Johan Garpered and Nitzan Ricklis (No. 3 doubles), played the closest doubles contests, both falling 6-4.
 
Mitch Johnson got the Dons' singles hot streak going with a quick 6-3, 6-1 sweep of Arjith Jayaraman at No. 5 singles. Stevie Gould followed with another sweep at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-1, over David Goulak, giving USF the match lead at 2-1. Two more sweeps at No. 6 (6-3, 6-4) by David Woodland, and at No. 2 (6-3, 6-4) by Paul Giraud, clinched the match for USF at 4-1. Ricklis earned a three-set victory at No. 2 singles over Ivan Thamma, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, and Huynh earned a three-set win over Andras Necz, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2, at No. 4 singles.
 
"We did a great job rebounding after losing the doubles point," said San Francisco head coach JT Sundling. "We need to do a better job at trusting our first serves and looking to take control at net. It was a big team effort to win all six first sets from the guys in singles, and we are looking forward to our next match at Cal."
 
San Francisco next faces East Bay foe and Pac-12 member California at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Berkeley.
