
MGOLF | Dons Win Third Consecutive Tournament, Lind Earns Medalist Honors

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – For the third-straight tournament the University of San Francisco men's golf team took home team honors, after leading wire-to-wire at the Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Club on Tuesday. The Dons finished the tournament with a 14-under 842 (281-267-294). Soren Lind captured his first career individual medalist honors.
"What a week," said head coach Jack Kennedy. "Winning is not easy and this group found a way to get it done today without its best stuff. Another team effort with everyone contributing. Obviously we are extremely proud of Soren. To see where he was at during round 1 to winning the event is a real testament to his talent and character. We have one goal in mind. We want to compete with the nation's best. Today was another step on that journey."
USF opened the day in first place after finishing the first day 20-under as team on Monday. The Dons were not as sharp as they were in the first and second round but still enough in the thank to defeat second place Washington by seven strokes. USF shot 6-over as a team but still had three players finish in the top-10.
Lind earned his third top-10 finish of the season and 10th top-10 finish of his brilliant career after finishing the day with a 1-over 73. For the tournament Lind shot a 5-under 209 (74-62-73). Lind led the field with 15 birdies. But the highlight of the day was his eagle on the Par-4 16th.
Lind edged out teammate Matthew Anderson who finished tied for second after shooting a 3-over 75. For the tournament Anderson shot a 4-under 210 (66-69-75).
Tim Widing took home his third top-10 finish of the season after shooting a 1-under 71 on the final round. For the tournament, Widing finished with a 2-under 212 (69-72-71) to finished tied for sixth.
Toby Briggs finished tied for 14th with a 1-over 215 (72-68-75). Christoffer Palsson finished tied for 44th with a 9-over 223 (74-68-81).
Alex Chin competed as an individual and finished tied for 59th with a 15-over 229 (73-72-84).
This is the second time in four years that the Dons have won the Redhawk Invitational. They also won it in 2018 with Widing taking home medalist honors.
USF will return to action on Saturday, April 10 when they travel to El Macero, Calif., to participate in the El Macero Classic at the El Macero Country Club hosted by UC Davis.
