MGOLF | Dons in Second After Two Rounds

CLE ELUM, Wash. – The 25th ranked University of San Francisco men's golf team slid back one spot on the leaderboard but remain seven strokes above the cut line after finishing the second round of the Cle Elum Regional with a 1-under 283. After 36 holes, the Dons are in second place with a 7-under 561 (278-283).
USF continues to shoot under par thanks to their impressive ability to card birdies. The Dons had 16 on the day, giving them a tournament-best 42 after two rounds. As a team, USF has four players in the top-25 thanks to the strong second round by Soren Lind and Toby Briggs.
Lind climbed 26 spots on the leaderboard and is currently tied for 17th after shooting a 2-under 69 on the day. For the tournament, Lind has an even par 142 (73-69). His strong day began with a terrific front-9, opening with four-straight pars before carding birdies on five, six, and nine to go 3-under at the turn. On the back-9, bogies on 12 and 17 sandwiched a fourth birdie on 15.
Briggs climbed nine spots on the board after shooting an even par 71 on the day. After two rounds, Briggs has a 1-over 143 (72-71). On Tuesday, he recorded five more birdies, giving him 10 for the tournament.
Christoffer Palsson remains in the top-5 after shooting a 71 on the day. After two rounds, Palsson is in fourth with a 5-under 137 (66-71). He carded birdies on one and three to open the round 2-under, after bogeys on six, seven, and 14 he got back to even par with a birdie on 15.
Tim Widing is currently in a tie at seventh place after shooting a 1-over 72. After two rounds, Widing has a 2-under 140 (68-72). The Dons' captain was 2-under for the day after back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15. He finished the round with a bogey on 16 and a double on 17.
Matthew Anderson is in 43rd with a 5-over 147 (72-75). Anderson was plus four on the day.
East Tennessee State is in first place after shooting a 14-under 270. for the tournament, the Buccaneers are 18-under at 550. The individual leader after two rounds is ETSU's Archie Davies who shot a course record 8-under 63 to go 11-under for the tournament.
The Dons will begin the final round tomorrow in the championship group. USF will play with East Tennessee State and third place Washington. Matthew Anderson will lead off for the Dons, he will tee off from the first hole at 8:00 a.m. Live results can be found at Golfstat.com
