PLAYER SPOTLIGHT:
Toby Briggs-
On staying the course: "We want to keep the ball rolling after our success in the fall… We are confident that the golf that we play can carry us to where we want to go. We have quite an old team and all of us want to leave the program and players that are here that they can also continue on this path themselves in the coming years."
On the goal of returning to NCAA Championships: "Last year was our first time as a group reaching that level… We have the goal of getting back there, but we know our consistency is key in reaching that point. We all are taking it seriously to get back to Scottsdale, so we all know we need to stay fit and healthy to accomplish our goals."
On being an underdog: "I could care less if we are ranked fifth or fifty-fifth, it is all about making it to the postseason. Technically, we don't have to win a single tournament and can still win the National Championship, so it is all about consistency. We have that underdog feeling around us and we kind of like it that way. We just always want to prove people wrong."
Soren Lind-
On recent practice in Arizona: "Although we didn't get the results we wanted to end the season last year, we have huge motivation to be better and strong this spring. Playing the course again (Grayhawk Golf Club), this is why we do these things… to be prepared for the moment. We know we can compete and challenge these bigger schools, so it is all about executing our gameplan."
On continuing personal success: "I took the time to relax a bit over the past couple months… I think one of the most important tools of personal growth is the ability to be able to wind down and assess your world when you have the time. I regrouped with coaches back home, specifically my mental coach. I am thankful I was able to see family and get back home over the holidays, but I am ready to get back at it with my teammates and coaches and start our mission back to Scottsdale."
On national recognition: "We need to consistently have at least four guys playing at a high level. It is not an art, but rather us being able to compete at our best all at the same time. Coach always tells us to be more consistent because we know what we are capable of when we play to our potential."
