SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference announced this morning that USF forward
Claudia Langarita as well as Pacific forward Elizabeth Elliott were selected as the WCC's co-Freshmen of the week following their strong performances in the last week of the regular season.
This is the fourth time in her stellar freshman season that Langarita has been recognized with this honor, as well as the second week in a row she's won the award as she ended her first season on the Hilltop in style.
It was a phenomenal week for Langarita as she averaged 17.5 PPG on a very efficient 54% shooting from the field and an impressive 43% from three-point range. She also averaged 3.5 rebounds and blocked two shots in each of the games against the Lions and Gaels.
Pressed into a starting role this week, Claudia shined helping the Dons get the road victory over Loyola Marymount and followed that performance by scoring a career-high 26 points against Saint Mary's at home to wrap up the regular season conference schedule.
The Barcelona, Spain wraps up her first college basketball regular season averaging 10.5 PPG while shooting a team best 49% from the field to go along with 32% shooting from three. Claudia also played in every regular season game while starting seven of the 30 games she's played in while ranking third on the Dons in scoring.
