Ruby Smee Finishes 12th at Indoor Track National Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Finishing up her historic freshman season among the best indoor track participants in the country, Ruby Smee continued her stellar season with a 12th overall finish in the 5,000 m.

Smee showed all season that she was not just one of the best runners in the west but among the best in the nation with her phenomenal season that included multiple first place individual finishes and being selected as a Second Team All-American for the season.

"I'm very proud of Ruby's race today," head track coach Tim Riley said. "The first one is always the hardest and I thought she did a great job of managing all that comes with racing at a National Championship. I want to thank Ruby's parents for their trust and support of our administration and facilities at USF. Without them, we wouldn't get these opportunities to have the Dons on the national stage."
