RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Returning to the course for the first time in a couple of weeks, the USF Dons men's cross country team were down in Southern California to compete at the 2022 UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday morning. Following the program's third place finish at the season opening USF Invitational, the Dons more than held their own against strong competition from across the west as they came in 15th place to finish among the top half of participating teams in the 8,000 meter run.
In his second ever race as a Don,
Ed Buck continued his stellar start to his NCAA racing career by finishing 11th overall and shaving 56 seconds off his season debut by posting a time of 24:04.8 on the notoriously fast surface. USF's men also received a pair of strong performances from
Caleb Haugland and
Daniel Abramowicz who each bested their times in Golden Gate Park to continue the Dons' ascent in the leader boards.

CATCHING UP WITH COACH FUELING:
"The men handled a big field and an unfamiliar course fairly well in Southern California. Caleb and Marshall are starting to see their consistency in training show. Daniel is still adjusting to college racing and is only going to keep improving. Once again, Ed is showing his experience and being the low stick that we need. We are excited to head to Notre Dame with the women at the end of the month.
UP NEXT:
The Dons will now take the next week off from competition as they prepare for a cross country journey to South Bend for the 2022 Notre Dame Invitational with both the men's and women's programs in action against quality opponents. Race day from South Bend will be on Friday, Sept. 30 as it will mark USF's last competition for the month.
