DONS AT A GLANCE:
- USF enters another week of conference action following a home split that included a victory over Pacific before a narrow loss to Saint Mary's that featured Krimili going on a scoring tear as she's now leading the West Coast Conference by averaging 18.2 PPG this season.
- The Dons continue to be the best rebounding team in the WCC this season as they currently average 40.7 rebounds per game as a team, and are shooting the ball well from three-point range lately as they've climbed to fourth in the conference at a 32.3% mark for the season.
- Providing a nice scoring punch off the bench, Jasmine Gayles had a strong week back on the Hilltop as she averaged 13 PPG against both Pacific and Saint Mary's to go along with three rebounds and 2.5 assists in both games.Â
SCOUTING THE COUGARS:
- BYU has rebounded from a slow start to the non-conference season as they've won five of their seven conference games so far and enter Thursday's game riding a six-game winning streak as they're undefeated in 2023.
- Leading the way for the Cougars this season has been the prolific rebounding and scoring from junior forward Lauren Gustin who's currently the nation's leading rebounder pulling in over 16.2 boards per game to go along with 15.3 PPG per game as the Dons will be tasked with trying to limit her production.
- The high-potent USF offense will have their hands full scoring against a tough minded Cougars' defense that's currently allowing the second fewest points per game in the WCC at 60.0 even on the season while also leading the league in opponent's field goal percentage at 38.1% for the season.Â
SCOUTING THE TOREROS:
- San Diego took care of business on the road last week earned a road sweep of the LA schools as they enter the newest week of conference games with a 10-8 overall record to go along with a 4-3 mark that includes home victories over Saint Mary's and Pacific.
- Leading the way for the Toreros this season has been the play of redshirt senior guard Kiera Oakry who is averaging a team-high 10.9 PPG and has scored in double figures in four consecutive games for her team heading into this weekend.
- Known for their pesky defense as a program, USD currently ranks third in the WCC in steals per game at 7.9, with graduate student guard Myah Pace leading the way for her squad at 24 steals on the season.Â
SERIES HISTORY:
- Dating back to the 2009-10 season, the Cougars lead the all-time series against USF by a 19-7 margin with the Dons' last win coming at home on February 27, 2021 when Krimili scored 27 points against BYU and Amalie Langer contributed 16 of her own.
- San Diego leads the all-time series with the Dons by a 25-12 margin dating back to the 2006-07Â season. USF split both meetings last year with the home team winning both times as Kennedy Dickie and Jessica McDowell-White each finished in double figures in the Dons' 61-48 victory.Â
