BLACK HILLS, S.D. - Set to compete in their second race this fall, the University of San Francisco triathlon team heads to South Dakota this weekend as the Dons will suit up for the Black Hills Collegiate Cup on Sunday morning.

DONS AT A GLANCE:

• Last time out, San Francisco finished third overall as a team at the Battle in the Fort (hosted by TCU) on Sunday, Sept. 17 in Fort Worth, Texas. Individually, Kira Gupta Baltazar impressed by finishing second overall (1:08:17) while Molly Elliott shined in her return from injury by finishing tenth overall (1:09:49). Notably, Gupta Baltazar led all competitors in the water with a time of 10:29 for the swim portion of the race while Elliott paced all student-athletes with a 27:15 time on the bike.
• Sunday's race will be a full sprint triathlon at Rocky Point Recreation Area at Belle Fourche Reservoir, approximately 25 miles from the BHSU campus in Spearfish. The competition begins at 1:00 p.m. MT with a one-loop, 750-meter triangular swim off the west side of the recreation area. The triathletes will then transition into a three-lap, 20-kilometer bike course in and out of Rocky Point before finishing with a two-lap, out-and-back run totaling 5K on the northside of the peninsula.
• Looking ahead, this event will mark the first of three races for the green and gold in October as the Dons will also compete at the West Regional (hosted by Drury) in Springfield, Missouri on Sunday, Oct. 15 before closing out the month back in the Bay Area with the Bearathlon on Monday, Oct. 23 in Berkeley.
