Pilots Top Dons in Season Finale

PORTLAND, Ore. – Closing out the 2023 campaign with one final road game, the University of San Francisco men's soccer team (8-4-5, 2-3-2 WCC) fell to No. 13 Portland (12-4, 5-2 WCC), 2-0, on Saturday night at Merlo Field.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Both teams were focused defensively in the first half, as the two clubs combined for only six shots in the opening 45 minutes of play - Gabriel Bracken Serra fired off the first shot of the game for San Francisco in the 26th minute, with Max Chretien following with an attempt of his own in the 39th minute.
- Without any of USF's six shots finding the back of the net in the first half, Portland and San Francisco headed into the break in a scoreless tie.
- Coming out of the locker room, Portland quickly erased the tie with a goal in the 49th minute by midfielder Nick Fernandez as the Pilots took a 1-0 advantage.
- Portland doubled its lead in the 84th minute with a goal by midfielder Sebastian Nava.
- Time expired with the Dons unable to get on the scoreboard as No.13 Portland picked up the 2-0 victory at home.
- Bracken Serra attempted a team-high two shots in the match, rounding out the season with the second-most shots on the team (35) behind Olivier Sylvain (42).
- In goal, Eric Waltz recorded five saves in the match, bumping up his season total to 45 to finish fourth overall in the conference.
