SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of San Francisco women's cross country team earned a 14th-place finish Friday morning in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational at the Notre Dame Golf Course.
Yasmine Abbes led the way for the Dons in the 5,000-meter race, crossing the finish line in 25th place with a time of 17:06.0. Nearly surpassing her previous best of 17:05.7 set last season at the same event while competing with Florida State, Abbes was just four-tenths of a second short of setting a new record.
Natalie Hlusi shined for the Dons in her second race of the season, earning a personal best time of 17:34.1 with a 50th-place finish. Hlusi ran her first-ever sub-18 minute 5K, breaking her previous best of 18:55.1 set last season at the Scenic West Cross Country Invitational while competing at BYU.
