SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's soccer team (5-9-2, 1-5-2 WCC) dropped its final home game of the season, falling to Washington State (6-5-6, 3-23 WCC) 1-0 Saturday evening at Negoesco Stadium on senior night.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Washington State opened the scoring 46 seconds into the first half, scoring the deciding goal to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Following a throw-in for the Cougars in the Dons' defensive third, Raniyah Burton dribbled to the end line, sending a centering pass to Kendall Campbell, who buried the shot past goaltender Kira Ybarra to give the Cougars the early advantage.
- San Francisco accumulated numerous scoring chances in the following minutes of the first half, as Jackie Koerwitz put a shot on goal at 4:01, while Gabby Rizzo's right-footed shot connected on the outside of the post at 6:37.
- The Dons registered two more shots in the opening 45 minutes as Emmie Paulson and Kiana Faucette guided the team's efforts to find the equalizer.
- San Francisco continued to battle throughout the second half, totaling seven shots, with two apiece coming from Ellie Weissenberg and Lindsay Chau.
- The Dons had an opportunity in the 79th minute when Chau's free kick from just outside the 18-yard box sailed wide of the far post.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Chau led the team in total shots, accumulating four in 60 minutes of action, while Weissenberg recorded two, including a shot on goal.
- In 90 minutes in goal, Ybarra, in her final home game at Negoesco Stadium, allowed just one goal and picked up two saves.

San Francisco returns to action at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, when it takes on LMU at Sullivan Field.
