DONS AT A GLANCE:
- San Francisco enters the final stage of its road trip following a narrow 81-79 loss at Columbia on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Schiller Court at Levien Gymnasium.
- Freja Werth scored a career-high 24 points against Columbia, surpassing her previous best of 20 set last season against the Lions on the Hilltop. Werth also posted her third-career double-double, adding a game-high 10 rebounds. She also remained perfect from the free-throw line this season, knocking down all four of her attempts.
- Coming alive in the second half, Debora dos Santos finished the game with 16 points, her second-highest point total of the season, while shooting a team-best 77.8 percent (seven-for-nine) from the field.
- As a team, San Francisco shot a season-high 81.3 percent from the free-throw line at Columbia, knocking down 10 of its 13 attempts. The previous best as a team was 68.2 percent against UC Santa Barbara on November 9.
- Through seven games this season, San Francisco has three players scoring in double figures, as Werth leads the team at 12.6 points per game. Dos Santos and Emma Trawally Porta have also propelled the Dons offensively, averaging 10.9 and 10.1 points per game, respectively.
- Dos Santo leads in rebounding at 7.1 per game while the team tops the West Coast Conference, averaging 41.9 per game.
SCOUTING THE LUMBERJACKS:
- Northern Arizona enters the weekend with an 8-2 overall record, dropping just its second game of the season at South Dakota, 84-79, on Saturday, Dec. 7. Four players scored in double figures, led by Taylor Feldman's game-high 31 points.
- In 10 games this season, Northern Arizona has four players averaging double-digit scoring, with Sophie Glancey leading the pack at 17.8 points per game. Glancey also paces on the glass, guiding the Lumberjacks with 9.3 rebounds per game.
- Northern Arizona ranks 11th in Division I in three-point attempts per game, averaging 29.6. The team, however, is 198th in three-point percentage, connecting on only 30.1 percent of their attempts from distance.
- Notably, NAU earned a 92-76 win over Arizona on Wednesday, Nov. 20, the team's first victory over a Power 4 program since defeating the Wildcats 84-66 back in 2017. The Lumberjacks also defeated a Big 12 opponent for the fourth time in program
- history and first since dropping Colorado 84-83 in overtime on December 19, 2005, in the San Juan Shootout in Puerto Rico.
SERIES HISTORY:
In five overall meetings between San Francisco and Northern Arizona, the green and gold holds a 4-1 advantage since the first meeting in 1980. The Lumberjacks, however, won the most recent matchup, a 92-76 victory on December 9, 2023, at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
