Dons Return to the Pacific Northwest, Competes in Husky Classic

SEATTLE, Wash. – The University of San Francisco women's indoor track & field team, competing in its second meet in the Pacific Northwest this season, took part in the Husky Classic, a two-day event at the University of Washington on Friday, Feb. 9 and Saturday, Feb. 10.
 
The meet was highlighted by multiple athletes earning personal bests. Olivia Alexandre shined in the 800-meter run, placing 12th out of 66 competitors while setting the top mark this season with a time of 2:08.09. Alexandre, surpassing her previous best in the event at the Portland Twilight, beat that time by 90 seconds.
 
Natalie Hlusi set a personal best in the 3,000 meters as she grabbed 33rd place with a time of 9:26.73, beating her previous best of 9:34.52 from the UW Invite/Mile City indoor meet two weeks ago.
 
In the one-mile run, Petra Helebrantová, competing in her first event as a member of the team earned a new time of 4:54.42 in 66th place. Grace Copeland led the team in the event with a 55th-place finish at 4:51.96.
 
In the preliminaries for the 60-meter dash, Sophia Priester-Veasley set a new best at 7.87 seconds while earning a 16th-place finish.
 
Noa Grochowski set a school record in the high jump while finishing in a tie for seventh place with a mark of 1.55 meters.
