INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee announced today the teams and individuals to participate in the regional rounds of the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships.
 
For San Francisco, Jakob Melin was selected as the third-seeded individual for the Stanford Regional, which will be hosted by Stanford University at Stanford Golf Course from Monday, May 13 through Wednesday, May 15.
 
Notably, Melin earned his first taste at postseason golf last year when San Francisco was selected as a No. 8 seed for the Las Vegas Regional in 2023. Helping the Dons set a new program record of 45-under, Melin tied for 14^th in his first NCAA postseason tournament as he finished at 11-under-205 at Bear's Best Las Vegas. Advancing to the championships in Scottsdale for just the second time in three years, Melin finished 81^st overall at the NCAA Championships to help the Dons finish as a top 20 team in the nation.
 
This year, Melin picked up where he left off after being named the 2023 WCC Newcomer of the Year as the second year Don began his campaign with three top ten finishes. First, Melin recorded a second-place finish at the USF/Howard Intercollegiate on Sept. 18 + 19 before tying for fourth at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Sept. 25 + 26. Shortly thereafter, Melin tied for sixth overall at the Mark Simpson Intercollegiate on Oct. 2 + 3 as he helped the green and gold to the team title at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colo.
 
Additionally, Melin also finished in the top ten at The Goodwin (T-3^rd) and Tiger Collegiate Invitational (T-4^th). Overall, he has shot even par or lower in 25 of his 36 rounds this year, including 12 straight rounds to begin the year. Notably, his best finish came when he shot 11-under-205 at the USF/Howard Intercollegiate. Most recently, Melin was the only individual at the 2024 WCC Men's Golf Championship to record multiple eagles (2).

For these efforts, Melin was recently named to the 2024 WCC All-Conference Team on Tuesday, Apr. 30. Heading into the regional, Melin currently sits at No. 155 in Scoreboard's Division I Men's Golf Individual Rankings.
