DONS AT A GLANCE:
- Last week, San Francisco ended its four-game skid with a narrow 54-52 win over Oregon State at home before returning on the road to grind out a 63-56 victory at San Diego.
- Freja Werth continued her string of 20-point games, scoring 20 on seven-of-17 shooting against the Beavers before delivering a career-high 26 points against the Toreros while shooting a flawless 10-for-10 from the free-throw line.
- Werth continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging a career-best 16.3 points per game. During WCC action, Werth is averaging 18.0 points per game, ranking second in the conference.
- Mia Vukšic had a strong outing against the Beavers, scoring 13 points on five-of-eight shooting from the field, including knocking down two three-pointers.
- Despite going scoreless at San Diego, Emma Trawally Porta secured eight rebounds, the most since totaling 11 at Oregon State on January 9.
- Among the top defensive teams in the WCC, the Dons rank in the top three for points allowed (third, 64.3), rebounds (tied for first, 39.9), and blocks (tied for third, 4.0).
SCOUTING THE LIONS:
- LMU sits in 10th place in the WCC after falling at Pepperdine 55-43 for its fifth straight loss on the road.
- Despite their road struggles, the Lions secured a narrow 79-76 victory at home over Washington State on Saturday, Jan. 25. Graduate Naudia Evans delivered a career-high 37 points, putting her second on the program's single-game scoring record list. Her record-setting performance awarded her WCC Player of the Week on Monday, Jan. 27.
- Evans leads the team with 308 points this season, averaging 16.2 points per game, ranking tied for fourth in the WCC. She also tops the conference in assists, averaging 5.9 per game.
- As a team, LMU ranks sixth in the WCC in scoring offense, averaging 64.6 points per game while allowing 65.3 points per game.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS:
- Santa Clara notched back-to-back conference victories last week, edging out LMU 67-60 before a come-from-behind 74-67 overtime win against Saint Mary's.
- The Broncos had four players in double figures in their win over the Gaels, with Olivia Pollerd leading the way with 16 points. Kaya Ingram (15 points), Malia Latu (16 points), and Alana Goodchild (11 points) also contributed to the scoring efforts.
- In conference play, Pollerd ranks sixth in points per game (16.1), sixth in field goal percentage (42.1), and tied for third in blocks per game (1.7).
- As a team, Santa Clara has been effective on the glass, sitting fourth in the WCC at 38.5 rebounds per game.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Thursday night marks the 92nd meeting between San Francisco and LMU, as the Dons hold a 51-40 edge in the all-time series. In the most recent meeting on December 28, 2024, San Francisco secured an 85-73 victory on the road.
- San Francisco and Santa Clara square off for the 108th time in program history on Saturday, with the Broncos owning a 59-48 advantage. The Dons claimed their most recent meeting with a 65-53 victory on December 30, 2024, at Leavey Center.
