Dons Rally in Final Stretch to Take Down Tigers

STOCKTON, Calif. - The University of San Francisco (USF) men's soccer team (7-3-1, 2-2 WCC) completed a thrilling comeback on Wednesday night as the Dons scored three goals in the final seven-plus minutes to take down Pacific (3-9, 1-3 WCC), 3-2, at Knoles Field.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • The first half of the match was scoreless, with the Tigers holding a slight edge in shots through the opening period, 4-3.
  • Pacific grabbed a 1-0 lead when Jacob Heisner scored in the 65th minute, assisted by Alberto Cruz and Dominic Berrios.
  • The Dons responded to level the match on a goal from Brayden Beason - his sixth goal of the season - in the 82nd minute, assisted by Alex Solomis.
  • USF went ahead, 2-1, just 25 seconds later when Ben Norris found the back of the net for the first time in his collegiate career. Solomis and David Raphael assisted the goal.
  • The Tigers fought back to knot things up at 2-2 on a goal from Josephat Yangyuoru with 46 seconds remaining in regulation.
  • San Francisco broke the tie and took a 3-2 lead when Chris Maldonado snuck the game-winning goal past the opposing goalkeeper with 16 seconds left on the clock. Holding off one final attack from Pacific, the Dons went on to secure a gritty road win in Stockton.
