SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The University of San Francisco women's soccer team (2-8-3, 1-4-1 WCC) outshot Seattle U (7-2-5, 3-2-1 WCC) on Saturday night, but the Dons could not complete a second-half comeback as the Dons fell to the Redhawks, 2-1, at Negoesco Stadium.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
- Seattle U started the scoring when U'i Kaaihue scored in the 11th minute, assisted by Kailee Wilson.
- The Redhawks grabbed a 2-0 advantage on a second goal from Kaaihue in the 23rd minute, this time coming via a penalty kick.
- San Francisco got on the scoreboard to make it a 2-1 game when Kaitlyn Sasadeusz squeezed one through the defense at 30:42. Kate Zimmerman assisted with the goal.
- USF would outshoot Seattle U 8-5 in the second period, but couldn't find the right opportunity to equalize the match. The Redhawks held on in the final 45 minutes t secure a one-goal victory.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Sasadeusz recorded a team-high eight shots, her second-most in a match so far this season. Four of these shots were on goal, including her fifth of the season.
- Zimmerman's assist was her first of the season and just the second of her collegiate career.
- Lindsey Chau tallied four shots for the Dons, her fourth time this season and second consecutive match in which she has finished with four or more shots.
- Tyra Bengtsson-Stenseth had three saves in the cage for the green and gold. She is now up to 50 saves on the season, good for sixth in the WCC.
