Broncos Edge Dons in Matinee Matchup

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The University of San Francisco (USF) women's soccer team (2-9-4, 1-5-2 WCC) came up just short on Saturday afternoon, falling 1-0 to Santa Clara (7-6-3, 3-2-3 WCC) at Stevens Stadium - Buck Shaw Field.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

  • Tyra Bengtsson-Stenseth made an early save in the 12th minute on a shot from Adee Goulden to keep the match scoreless.
  • Leah O'Brien broke through for Santa Clara in the 14th minute, scoring off assists from Kat Jordan and Lia Henkelmann to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.
  • The Dons finished the first half with four shots and one corner kick, while Santa Clara totaled nine shots before the break.
  • In the second half, San Francisco totaled nine shots overall, including one on target, while limiting Santa Clara to three shots and one corner kick.
  • Neither side was able to find the back of the net in the final 45 minutes, as Santa Clara held on for the 1-0 result.
