DONS AT A GLANCE:
  • San Francisco enters the Sunday afternoon matchup against UC San Diego following an 80–66 loss to Seton Hall last Thursday night at the Hilltop.
  • Aina Cargol continued her solid start to the season, leading the Dons with a career-high 20 points while adding three rebounds and three assists. Her performance marked the second time this year a Don has reached the 20-point mark.
  • Natasa Taušová also turned in a career outing, contributing 13 points, five rebounds, and two steals, and connecting on two of her three attempts from beyond the arc.
  • The Dons' defense forced 25 Seton Hall turnovers and turned those opportunities into 25 fastbreak points compared to the Pirates' nine. The green and gold also surged in the third quarter, shooting an impressive 11-for-14 from the field (78.6 percent) and knocking down five of its seven three-point attempts (71.4 percent) to fuel a 13-0 run.
  • Candy Edokpaigbe contributed on both ends of the floor, adding 11 points and four rebounds while also leading the defensive effort with a season-high five steals, just one shy of her career best of six set against Utah Tech on Mar. 8, 2024. She now leads the team with six steals this season.
  • In three games, Edokpaigbe and Cargol lead the team in scoring, averaging 15.0 and 12.0 points, respectively.
SCOUTING THE TRITONS:
  • The defending Big West champions enter the 2025–26 season after posting a 20–16 record, the program's first 20-win season. Last year marked a milestone for UC San Diego, as the Tritons reached and won the Big West Championship for the first time in program history as the No. 4 seed. The historic run continued with their inaugural appearance in the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship against Southern.
  • Erin Condron earned a spot on the Big West Women's Basketball Preseason Team, securing the first all-conference honor of her career. Condron appeared in 22 games last season, averaging 8.1 points and 4.7 rebounds while recording one double-double.
  • UC San Diego opened the season with a narrow 69–66 road loss to Pacific in the first-ever matchup between the programs on November 3 at the Spanos Center. The Tritons bounced back in their home opener, rolling past Denver in a 72–54 victory to secure their first win of the year. The team arrives in San Francisco after falling to Sacramento State on Wednesday evening, 71–60.
  • Sabrina Ma returns for her senior season after earning 2025 Big West Newcomer of the Year honors. She has opened the year with strong performances, scoring 19 points in the win over Denver and 16 more in the loss to Sacramento State. Ma is now just 16 points away from reaching the 1,000-point milestone for her career.
  • UC San Diego ranks second in the Big West in turnover margin at 11.67, a mark that also places them 24th nationally. The Tritons are second in the conference in total steals with 35 and in steals per game at 11.7, led by Dymonique Maxie, who is averaging 3.3 steals per contest.
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Sunday's matchup on the Hilltop marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
