SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The University of San Francisco volleyball team (3-19, 1-11 WCC) fell in straight sets to Santa Clara (13-9, 8-3 WCC), 3-0, Thursday night at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- The Dons found themselves in an early deficit, losing a tough first set 25-19. San Francisco trailed by as many as 10 points as Santa Clara grabbed the advantage for good at 3-2 in a set that was notted up four times before the Broncos took control.
- A 25-21 second-set loss put San Francisco in a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Dons fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before dropping the set.
- San Francisco couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Dons couldn't survive a furious Santa Clara rally, falling 25-18 after leading by eight points at 12-4 earlier in the set.
